In the podcast On Education and Parenting (Dutch: Over Onderwijs en Opvoeding), Jana Runze and Geertjan Overbeek talk about the outcomes of their new study published in Public Health. Their research shows that a relatively small segment — about 20% of the Dutch population — accounts for between 42% and 100% of economically burdensome outcomes. The study further reveals that experiencing child abuse before the age of 16 strongly predicts membership in this high-cost population segment.
